If your system doesn&#8217;t have enough refrigerant, it can suffer. And if your system is <em>losing <\/em>refrigerant, it means there is a leak that needs to be repaired. <\/li><li>Check the electrical connections and tighten them where necessary. <\/li><li>Clean the condensate pan and drain so that moisture from the evaporator coils doesn&#8217;t overflow them. <\/li><li>Clean and lubricate the fan and compressor motors in order to prevent mechanical stress that could potentially lead to the motors burning out. <\/li><li>Check that the thermostat is reading the temperature correctly, and recalibrate the thermostat if it isn&#8217;t. <\/li><li>Replace or clean the air filter. True, we just named this as a step you should be taking on your own.
